Anime

On the 5th of July our Animanga club went deep into the manga side of the fandom and provided fans with opportunity bring life to their favorite manga pages with coloured pencils, brush pens and soon the event room was an explosion of colour and joy. On the 19th of July, we found the community in front of the TV watching the trailers for the newest animes that were going to release that season, there were clear favorites, new niches and emerging surprises that caught our eyes

We started of the month with a movie discussion of the studio ghibli classic Nausicaa and the Valley of the wind. The beautiful tragedy of creeping nature saw the beginnings of the themes that ghibli would revisit often. The community joined together and shared our thoughts about the film. On the 14th, we swapped katanas for Kunais, becoming Ninjas, not Samurais. learning the art of paper craft together at Eve's Coffee. we crafted them, each painted in all different colours.

We celebrated Valentine's day with a movie discussion of Weathering with you, talking romance and love with the community. The way anime romanticizes reality and bring with it hope and love. On the 15th of February, The Anime Community brought its Katana creation skills to wonderful people at Tricult Festival. Huge crowds filled tables as we taught the people how to create and wield their own katanas. We ended the month on the 28th with our much awaited and much prepped anime

On the December 20, we got together to talk animated cinema, an open forum where love for the genre is the only requirement. Satoshi Kon's Perfect Blue was the topic of discussion on 24th January. We reckoned with the mind boggling beauty and narrative. Everything from sweet romance and experimental cinema. Sitting together, in groups of a dozen or more talking about the beauty of animated cinema.

As part of our Onam Event at PlayFest, The Anime Community hosted a "Mavelik oru dub" an event that celebrated the artform of dubbing, with creative malayalam dubbing over famous anime scenes. On the 14th of September, The Onigiri order celebrated the release of one of the most popular releases in all of animation, "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle" a jam packed theatre for a incredible experience.
